Iveta Jansova
About
Dr. Iveta Jansová is the Head of the Department of Media Studies and Journalism at Masaryk University. She holds a PhD in cultural and media studies and has worked at multiple journalism departments in the country. Her teaching experience covers a variety of topics, including Cultural Studies, Audience Theory, Fan Studies, Feminist Theory, Media Representation, and Media and Popular Culture. She has also taught courses on the media representation of marginalized identities and the role of female heroines in media. Dr. Jansová’s research interests include audience studies, fan studies, cultural studies, and television studies, with a focus on the representation of marginalized identities, and the portrayal of women in crime genre in TV. She has contributed to several research projects, for example to those related to digital legislation’s impact on the Czech audiovisual industry and the evolving role of Czech Public Service Media. Her international experience includes research stays and academic collaborations at prestigious institutions. These include a two-month research stay at the University of Graz, focused on publication activities, and a six-week program at New York University’s Multinational Institute of American Studies. She has also participated in a teaching exchange at the University of Rijeka, Croatia, and attended an alumni workshop at NYU’s Multinational Institute of American Studies in Florence.
